All metal halide lamps require a metal halide ballast to regulate the arc current and deliver proper voltage to the arc.  When replacing a metal halide ballast be sure to use a metal halide bulb with matching ANSI codes to avoid any issues.  Our metal halide ballast kits come with a mounting bracket and either a capacitor only or both a capacitor and ignitor depending on the wattage and ballast type.
